Marilyn Hotaling

Marilyn has been a teacher at the Wilson Fine Violins Lesson Studio for the past 17 years. She has been teaching and performing in the Detroit area for many years. She began teaching violin at the age of 16 in her hometown of Okemos, Michigan. She was concertmistress of her high school orchestra for four years, eventually attending Michigan State University as a stringed music major, graduating with honors in her chosen field. She taught elementary string classes in Grand Blanc and Traverse City from 1967-1970, and was granted her permanent teaching certificate in 1972.  She currently plays fiddle in the Irish traditional music group, Inis-Ceol, having performed with the group in many venues in and around Detroit for 15 years. Marilyn states that, “I love my violin teaching-it has been the most rewarding part of my life.”
